Arrest Made After Black History Month Proclamation Stolen From A Municipal Building In Orillia

The Orillia OPP have made an arrest in relation to a theft investigation where a Black History Month Proclamation was stolen from a local municipal building in the City of Orillia.

On February 7, 2024, the Orillia OPP received a theft complaint where it was reported an unknown person had stolen a Black History Month Proclamation that was on display for public viewing. The resulting investigation led police to identify the suspect. On March 7, 2024 the suspect was arrested and charged and the stolen property was recovered.

A 45 year-old male from Mississauga has been charged with:

·      Theft under $5000

The name of the accused was not released.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia a later date in April 2024.
